BLOG #15 - VILLAINS ON A STORY BOARD

One of my very favorite things to write is villains. I discovered years ago while a theatre major that villains have the best parts and that within each of them, resides a redemptive quality. Sometimes you have to dig r-e-a-l-l-y deep to find it but . . . it is there. And if they would only discover it for themselves then . . . maybe . . . but ah-h, we wouldn’t have wonderful stories to write . . . to see . . . or hear and read. But I digress--On my story board I have a small section partitioned off - labeled: Villain. Like my hero and heroine, I want to know what makes the villain tick. I mainly want to know what in their life propelled them to choose to be a villain. And why they chose to remain one. --

HAPPY WRITING,

L.J.

Next month, I will be discussing keeping track of suspense clues on a story board.
